Dyslexia: An Introduction to Reading Disorders


About the book
Reading disorder is a very common problem in India. Therefore, there exists a
pressing need to know about the problem itself and the effective intervention strategies for remediation of reading disorders. Dyslexia: An Introduction to Reading Disorders is a purely research- and practice-oriented book which will help readers in understanding the complexities of reading disorders, its prevention and intervention. The book has been carefully structured to serve as a textbook for the students of Special Education, Psychology, intervention researchers and practitioners in the field of reading disorders.
The book contains 14 chapters which has been divided into three sections. The first section relates to general discussions to reading and reading disorders and are placed under first section of the book. The second section of the book contains seven chapters on seven intervention approaches to reading disabilities which can help the child to be a fluent and efficient reader. The third and the last section of the book introduces the more recent studies conducted by the author.This section would help the students of Special Education, Psychology and Education to d project and research work in the field of reading disorders for the fulfillment of their curriculum demands or for future research knowledge.

About the Author
Gopal C. Mahakud is currently a faculty of Psychology at University of Delhi, India. Dr Mahakud has done a number of research works primarily in the area of reading and learning disabilities, occupational stress and stress management and smoking and tobacco abuse. His research based papers and articles have been widely published in various national and international journals.
