Educational Psychology: Teaching and Learning Perspectives is an important contribution in the field of study of psychology in the new millennium.  The author is one of contemporary India's renowned experts in teacher training and educational psychology. It not only gives an excellent account of a large variety of internationally established paradigms, but, even more importantly, focuses on the culturally specific assets of Indian psychology and educational science, and on Indian contributions to theories of personality. Whereas today's mainstream psychology still is pitifully unaware of the contributions from the "East", this book successfully integrates Western and Indian approaches.

This book deserves appreciation as a textbook for graduate students and those who would like to have educational psychology as their main area of study. The chapters emphasizing Indian contexts will certainly help to make students understand the intricacies between Eastern and Western thoughts related to education and psychology.

Considering the simple way of expressing the concepts and issues of concern related to the subject, the provision of different approaches and illustrative explanations, I feel Educational Psychology: Teaching and Learning Perspectives is a timely text for enriching the knowledge and skills of the students and teachers of the subject also those in allied fields.
